Mitchel Peterson Fearing
11/1/1954–12/4/2023
Alachua County lost a dedicated doctor on December 4th, 2023. Mitchel Peterson Fearing was born in Chattanooga, TN, to Dexter Fearing, Jr. and Edna Jarman Fearing. Florida became Mitch’s home when he moved to Winter Haven as a boy. He was a proud graduate of the University of South Florida and the University of Miami Medical School. It was at UM where Mitch met and married his beloved wife, Pat. After completing his residency in Internal Medicine at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, he returned home to Winter Haven to practice medicine and start his family, later moving to Gainesville. He is survived by Pat, his children, Annmarie and Mitchell Fearing, and his sister, Hunter Gandy. He is predeceased by his sister, Jarman Lowder, and brother, Dexter Fearing III. Mitch greeted every day with a smile and cared deeply for his family, friends, patients, and staff. He will be remembered for his kindness, dedication, and perseverance—nothing could stop him from coming into his practice every day, even after his accident. A reception in honor of Mitch’s life will be held at Swick House, Alachua,. Please contact the family for service information.. If desired, donations may be made to NPR or the Humane Society.

Dr. Fearing was a wonderful and dedicated doctor. My condolences to the family. His caliber of bedside manner is hard to come by. He will be sorely missed.
We have been Dr. Mitch's patients since forever and a kinder, more dear person we've never met. It was a joy and a privilege to be his patients over the years. He ill be missed not only for his skills as our doctor but for his dear, kind, self. May flights of angels sing you to your rest Dr. Mitch and know you will be missed.
Prayers and condolences to the family, you will be in our prayers.
Caring, knowledgeable, patient and kind, describe Dr. Mitch Fearing. He took time to thoroughly explain one's condition and presented options for treatment, always in a warm, friendly manner. He was never in a hurry when patients had questions. He will be missed. When he asked, "What's going on?", with a concerned smile, I knew my problem would be solved. May he rest in eternal peace.
We had just been seen by our Dr. Fearing on November 30th for our annual check up. He was in great spirits despite still recovering from his accident last February. We both had such admiration and respect for him and his dedication to his practice. We were so grateful to have him as our primary care physician. Our hearts are broken. Please know, Mrs. Fearing and family, Valentina and Margaret, you are in our prayers and thoughts during this sad time.
Our deepest condolences go out to the family of Dr. Mitch. He was such a wonderful, caring doctor. We never felt rushed when visiting him and felt we had his full attention when talking with him. We will miss him.
