Beth Hendry Clark

December 6, 2023

Beth Hendry Clark, 79 years of age, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, December 6th, 2023.

Beth was born in Wauchula, FL on September 7th, 1944 to John Newell Hendry and Iris Smith Hendry. She graduated from Hardee High School. She then attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree in education. While teaching and raising two daughters, she enrolled in the University of Florida and earned her Master’s degree and then her PhD.  Afterward, Beth moved with her daughters to Kentucky, where she taught education courses at Murray State University. She then relocated back to Wauchula, Florida and helped care for her aunt, Mildred Hadsel.  She taught for several years at Zolfo Springs Elementary School before retiring and moving back to Gainesville to be closer to her daughters and grandchildren.

Beth is preceded in death by her parents, JN and Iris Hendry, as well as her niece, Tamara Hendry. She is survived by her brother, Ross Hendry; her nephew, Dane Hendry and his wife Yvette; her nephew, Clint Hendry and his wife Alisa; her niece, Genie Quave and her husband Gabriel; her daughter, Kelley Segovia and her husband Reynaldo; her daughter, Jeanne Balamucki and her husband Christopher; and her grandchildren: Kayla Powell, Kelsey Williams and her husband Allen, Brandon Powell and his wife Bridget, Alisia Segovia, Mireya Segovia, Nicholas Segovia, Lucas Balamucki, and Zachary Balamucki.

Beth loved her family fiercely, put them first always, and took on the role of being “Nanny” to her grandchildren with great pride. She never missed the opportunity to retell stories of her days growing up in Wauchula, and cherished family events like Thanksgiving in the woods at The Old House. She was a devoted UF Gator fan, and you could find her watching football, basketball, or softball almost every weekend. Her greatest passion though was teaching. Whether her classroom was at a university or an elementary school, she went above and beyond as an instructor to help every student succeed.

The family will hold a Celebration of Life for Beth at a future date (TBD) and details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements have been made.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Clark Family.
