Judith Kosky

On December 2, 2023, Judith Onita “Nita” Kosky passed away at UF Health-Shands Hospital in Gainesville, Florida surrounded by her loved ones. Nita was 74 years old and is survived by Kennard Kosky, her husband of 53 years; her children Michelle Weaver (Richard) and Christopher Kosky (Heather); her four grandchildren Sebastian Weaver, Samantha Weaver, Jacob Kosky, and Quinlan Kosky; and her siblings Wayne Tubaugh (Alice) and DeRonda Ream (Jesse). She was predeceased by her parents, Charlie Tubaugh and Leona Allison Tubaugh, and her brother, Charles “Chuck” Tubaugh.

Nita was born in Charlotte, North Carolina and grew up in Black Mountain, North Carolina before moving to Miami where she met her husband. Nita and her husband moved to Gainesville in 1974 where she became a teacher at Stepping Stones Preschool for many years. She later became an accounting assistant for KBN Engineering and Applied Sciences.

Nita was well travelled having had numerous trips to Hawaii and visiting over 10 countries including Thailand, Pakistan, Italy, Canada, and England. More recently, she enjoyed Caribbean cruises with her husband and best friends visiting numerous islands and countries. She loved being with her four grandchildren and was blessed having them all located very close in Gainesville. When not in Gainesville, she enjoyed staying in their condo on Crescent Beach and watching the ocean.

To honor Nita’s wishes, there will be no funeral service. Her ashes will be scattered at her favorite beach as well as a location alongside her parents, and the family will be having a private celebration of her life.
