Karen Elizabeth Scott, a loving Mother, Aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 5, 2024, at the age of 74. She was born on January 7, 1950.
Karen dedicated her life to serving others, exemplified by her service in the US Army and Army Reserves. Afterwards, she received her Bachelors in Parks & Forestry from the University of Arkansas. She was a passionate supporter of the arts, finding joy in the theatre and actively participating in her local theatre community in Georgetown, SC. Karen's infectious laughter and kind heart touched the lives of countless friends across the country. She had a deep love for animals and cherished the memories of exploring the United States with her son.
Karen's upbringing by her grandmother, Ruth Sampson Nash, and her grandmother’s sister, Blanche Sampson, left an indelible mark on her life. She always spoke fondly of her grandmother's influence. This can be seen in her love for her extended family and her close relationships with her nieces Jody, Wendy and their families.
The greater part of Karen’s career was spent working with Veterans in VA Hospital Administration. Retirement brought a new opportunity for Karen to start her own cleaning company, servicing local businesses and homes in Pawley’s Island SC.
In recent years, Karen connected with her half-sister, Sherrie, forging a new and cherished bond.
As a life long cat person, Karen’s later years were filled with love from her companion pup Livie and a nice glass of wine to relax from a long day of feeding the ducks and spending time with neighbors and friends in her community.
Karen is survived by her son, Kevin Chadbourne; her brothers, Stephen, Brian, and Christopher Stewart; and her half-sister, Sherrie Noble. She was predeceased by her Brother, Richard (Dick) Paul Noble and her Mother Helen E. Nash.
Karen's spirit will be missed by all who knew and loved her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and a passion for life.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Scott Family.

Most Loving, compassionate person, and the STRONGEST woman I Know….
Karen, Sis you brightened my life and yes, told me to call you sister, so I did and do. You knew about me from childhood and came looking for me–and found me well into my very not young years. Thank you so much for keeping an open heart to welcome me when I never even knew you or your family existed. Your courage, love and kindness shown through to me and so many others. You are missed and deeply loved, and always will be.
Karen and I were friends long before her Son was born. We had kept in touch for over 45 years. She was more like a Sister to me. She would do any thing for her Loved ones, Especially Wendy and Jody.
I will forever keep her in my Heart , I Loved her so much! Love you Debi and Billy who knew her as Aunt Kar Kar

My dear friend who told the world that she loved me but was not her lover. I am still trying to figure out how that works. Rest in peace dear Karen.
With much love.
