Marjorie Bell Hoover Pedrick passed away in Gainesville, Florida on May 23, 2024 surrounded by loved ones after a year-long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was “66 years young”, as she would say, and lived a full and vibrant life. Marjorie was a light in this world, someone who found joy and hope in every moment and shared that with everyone she came into contact with. She was excited and grateful for each day she was given and saw beauty others did not always see. She was a tenacious Mother of four, supportive, decisive, and loving.
Marjorie was born in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on December 24th, 1957. She was raised in Hershey, Pennsylvania, the “Chocolate Capital”, by her adoring parents William A. Hoover & Barbara A. Hoover, alongside her brother Mitchell Hoover. She continued her education at Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree, Magna Cum Laude. Later, Marjorie worked as an interior designer at George Vaeth & Associates and Kaufman Black Lyons, a Furniture Sales Associate at BKM, and a Senior Account Executive at Naylor Association Solutions for 20 years.
From 1983 to 2005, she was married to Andrew Pedrick. Marjorie and Andrew had four children together: Christopher Pedrick, Katherine Pedrick, Jonathan Pedrick, and Julia Pedrick, all born in Norwalk, Connecticut and grew up in Gainesville, FL. Marjorie was an adoptee. She was proud of her Ukrainian heritage and found her birth mother later in life.
Marjorie had a beautiful gift of art and music. While in college, Marjorie sang with the university concert choir, performed the Berlioz Requiem with Andre Previn and the Pittsburgh Symphony, played flute and piccolo with the Penn State Blue Band, and toured Europe with the Voices of America. Marjorie went on to perform with the First Presbyterian Church Adult choir, Gainesville Community Chorus, Capella Nova Community Chorus, and Audacity A Capella. In April 2023, Marjorie performed in Carmen with the UF Opera Theatre and UF Symphony Orchestra. Marjorie created countless beautiful paintings and appreciated all types of art.
Marjorie traveled around the world throughout her life and enjoyed many adventures. Her residences included Pennsylvania, Maryland, Connecticut, and Florida. She had a wonderful sense of style and a unique grace. She inspired joy and connection in everyone she met and was a kind and generous friend to all she knew. Throughout her life Marjorie was a shining example of strength, faith, and fortitude.

I miss you and will cherish our memories together for as long as I live. Thank you for being such a lovely human, and for setting the bar so high on how to handle devastating news and circumstances with grace, class, positivity, and faith. I will never forget you. https://celebratethis.life/marj
Marjorie was an absolutely amazing lady. Her joy for life and the love that she showed to all that knew her was neverending. I know that I will have another incredible angel watching over me. The courage, strength, and faith that she showed throughout this was incredible to witness. I'm forever grateful to have known her for all of these years, and look forward to seeing her beautiful smile again in heaven.
Our dear Marjorie truly lived life to the max up to her last days. She was always a determined woman who let little stand in her way. She was a fully committed and loving single mom, a dedicated and hard working employee, and a loyal, generous friend. Her interests and talents were broad…..but most involved the arts.
She faced her health adversary head on and never gave up. She was a true warrior and watching her live fully was inspirational to all who know her. Her spirituality and religious beliefs gave her a foundation for both life and death. She was one of a kind and will be missed by many.
Marjorie will forever be remembered as she has impacted our lives in more ways than one. Her devotion to the Lord was inspiring. Marjorie loved Jesus and was always quick to give Him praise and glory no matter the circumstance. She was a fighter, a woman who knew how to pray and trust in God, loved her family & friends well, and also loved to laugh. I’m so thankful for each one of her prayers and words of wisdom that have helped shaped me as a young mother and disciple. My heart hurts as Marjorie is no longer here with us, but I simultaneously rejoice in the hope we have because of the resurrection of Jesus to see Marjorie again. I very much believe she is in heaven dressed in heavenly garments singing with the choir of angels! Thankful to Marjorie’s family and praying Gods comfort for all. 🙏
It has been my pleasure to have Marjorie as a neighbor for many years. What a talented, vibrant lady. I will miss our chats across the fence.
Heartfelt condolences. Marjorie was a special person that exuded a vibrancy for life. She will be missed.
My dearest friend Marjorie, she was one of the strongest people I know, and took this illness and fought it with everything she had. She was a devoted Mom and friend, her strong faith was like no other, and she said to me that God has a plan, When I lost my Mom, these were her words to me “Whenever you think about those you love who have left this world, they will still feel your love because souls never die and love lives in each soul." and she also said “Try to focus on the love you and your mom shared and know without a doubt that death cannot separate that love. Death is only a veil and the love you have for each other will still pass through.” These words are so profound to me now.
Am so sorry to hear of Marjorie’s passing. Grateful she was a follower of Jesus and is now joined in Glory with her mom and dad.
She was always an inspiration of faith and joy her entire life in the face of many challenges. From our days growing up in Hershey, she was a positive and loyal friend, always there to listen and offer an encouraging word.
She was the star in our church musicals at Derry Church and loved being in the Blue Band!!
She will be sorely missed. Hope in His Eternal Glory.
Marjorie was a superhero! She was strong in faith, strong as a mother to her 4 children, enthusiastic about life, and a passionate individual who worked hard to take care of her children. All the while she enjoyed the wonderful talent she had as a singer/performer. Whenever I had the opportunity to run into her at social gatherings through the past many years, it was always a pleasure to exchange hugs, smiles and updates on how her kids were doing, her work, and my family. Her strength and positive attitude will carry on in all of us who were blessed enough to be her friend, like my husband, Erik, and I were.
Your mom was always a strong remarkable woman full of love. Where most people would struggle, she would always persevere. I will miss her. If on the days to come you guys need anything, feel free to reach out.
Marjorie was one of the kindest people I've met. It's clear she loved her kids very much, cared about her friends and colleagues, and happily shared her gifts with the world. She is an inspiring soul and I will remember her positivity and love for life.
