Joseph Alexander Toth Jr

May 8, 1947 ~ July 21, 2024

Joseph A. Toth, Jr. passed away at his home in Jacksonville, Florida, early Sunday morning, July 21st, 2024. He is survived by his ex-wife and loving friend, Barbara Toth, his daughter Laura Toth, his son and his wife, Joseph Toth, III and Kate Toth, and their daughter, the light of his life, Tori Toth. He is also survived by his longtime companion, Jan DiFini of Palm Harbor, Florida, as well as countless friends and extended family. No one was a stranger to Dad. He loved meeting new people and “shooting the breeze” with more or less anyone willing to chat with him. His family and extended family were important to him, and we wish to thank everyone who touched his life in some small way. He talked about many of you during his last days as his life became a highlight reel of past good times.

He was many things to many people but father and grandfather brought his greatest pride and joy. Through the years he was an outdoorsman and particularly loved hunting in PA and fishing in both PA and Florida, especially near Honeymoon Island in the Clearwater area. Nothing was more peaceful for him than fishing, whether in a stream for trout, or in the Gulf catching all the West Coast of Florida has to offer, including a few small sharks! He was also a golfer, bringing home many amateur trophies over the years. He instilled in both his children a love for the outdoors and all the wildlife contained therein. Our time spent with our father enjoying the outdoors will be cherished for all the days of our lives.

We would like to add a special mention for his Heartland Hospice care team for their kindness, compassion, and support. We are forever grateful.

It was fitting that our goldendoodle, Angel, who loved Dad more than anyone else, also passed away on the same day just a few hours later, so Dad did not have to make the final journey alone, a rarity. Dad was not a veteran but was so very proud of both his father’s and son’s military service in the U.S. Army. We therefore would like to request all memorial donations to be sent to K9s for Warriors in his name. Headquartered in Ponte Vedra, Florida, their website is k9sforwarriors.org.

  7. Joe was a man of authenticity, conviction, and dignity. We shared so many smiles and laughs as well as serious discussions. I'm sure many others can attest to the the quality of Joe. Always available to listen, provide advice or just share a bench in the afternoon sun. Joe was very proud of his family and their achievements, loyal to his friends and just an all around good human being. I will always remember my friend, Joe.

I wish his family and friends peace and patience going forward.

  8. Joe and I met each other 12 years ago. He was a kind and caring person and a wonderful companion. He enjoyed joking around with each other and we laughed a lot. He loved to cook and I enjoyed his culinary talents. In turn, I enjoyed baking for him, as he had a sweet tooth and loved his desserts. Joe was loved by many and he will be greatly missed. I am glad I got to say goodbye and say “I love you, Joe”. I send my sincerest condolences to the Toth family.

  9. I worked with Joe at Art Print. He was a great guy and I have a lot of fond memories of him
When I burned my back in a tanning bed I asked him to spray my sunburn…and he did! What a cool guy. My condolences to his family.
