Susan Leslie Newman Bonilla

May 5, 1966 ~ July 27, 2024

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Susan Leslie Newman-Bonilla on July 27th, 2024 at the age of 58. She was born May 5th, 1966 in Riverside, CA where she started traveling the world with her family and eventually settling in Satellite Beach, FL in her teen years.

In 1988 she graduated from Flagler College with a Bachelor of Science in Education. She found her calling as a Deaf Special Needs Teacher where she passionately taught deaf children American Sign Language, enabling them to communicate effectively with their families and friends. Her dedication to her students and her skill in teaching left a lasting impact on many lives.

In addition to her successful teaching career, Leslie found joy in her hobbies of travel, crafting, word puzzles and caring for her pets. She brought light and laughter to all those around her. Leslie's compassionate spirit will be deeply missed. In lieu of flowers contributions in Leslie’s memory can be made to the Humane Society (here), S.A.F.E (here), or Corgi Rescue (here); organizations that reflect her love for animals and her spirit of giving. Leslie’s legacy will live on through the countless lives she touched and the love she shared with her family and friends. May she rest in God's peace knowing that her kindness and warmth will never be forgotten.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Newman-Bonilla and Lundy families.

  1. Memories are so bittersweet! I met Susan “Lesli” nearly 40 years ago. In early 1985 at some point we crossed paths and we became college besties and lifelong friends!  So many chats, drinks shared, happy moments and fun experiences. So many!!
Being her friend, her bridesmaid, her roommate, her confidante cemented our love for each other and allowed us to lean in!  Whether in St Augustine, Orlando, South Florida we stayed close.  And knew we could just holler if needed.
I’ll miss you girl and will love you always!  Your brilliant smile and beautiful eyes sparkling in laughter will always be how I remember you.  Big hugs!   🥰

  2. My good friend John, I send my deepest sympathies of your loss of your dearest love, Leslie.
You and I go way back to 1974 Satellite Beach. We were and will always be best of buddies! Always know I'm here, a phone call away.
Again my condolences to you and your family.
May the following poem, (that I found), express to you my feelings and belief that Leslie is with God and she is in a better place as she waits for you..

In your hands o Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters.
In this life you embraced them with your tender love.
Deliver them now from evil and abide them in eternal rest.
The old order has passed away, welcome them into Paradise,
where there will be no sorrow, no weeping and pain, but fullness of peace and joy with your son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever.
    Amen

  3. Our most sincere condolences, hoping you cousin Eric and the rest of the family find the peace you need to continue remembering it with love. RIP  a big hug Radha & Ricardo

  4. Leslie was the first friend I made at Flagler, when she was my college roommate our freshman year. Little did I know that I would be blessed with such a wonderful person to share so many special memories! Always in a good mood, there to listen, and to offer advice, she was a positive influence to many. I’ll always treasure the times we shared and the wonderful person she was.

  5. Just finding out about this. This truly broke my heart. Susana, you will be missed. You were a great friend and amazing sister-in-law. We have so many memories spent with you. Bianca and I constantly talk about you. I will always be thankful for all the wonderful years we had together. I LOVE YOU SUSANA!!! From Yoli & Bianca
