Robert Joseph Morton, Sr.

Robert Joseph Morton, Sr., 73, of Gainesville, Florida passed away August 26, 2024.  Bob was born September 27, 1950 to Victor and Doris (Ryder) Morton in East Bridgewater, Massachusetts.  Bob's father was killed in action during the Korean War.  He is buried in The Punch Bowl in Hawaii.

Bob was raised by his mother and stepfather.  When 18 years old Bob joined the Army.  He was sent to Vietnam and served in The 5th Infantry Division (MECH).

Bob served honorably and had multiple occasions near the DMZ to distinguish himself under fire.  Bob was forever grateful to Sgt. Bill Howard who became a lifelong friend.

Bob married his high school sweetheart Paula Lee Jaruse.  They had three children, Robert, Ben and Carol.

Bob went to Vietnam a boy and returned a Man.  He brought home guilt and depression.  This made return to civilian life difficult.

Bob would like to thank the nurses, staff and doctors on 5 East in the Gainesville VA for all their extra care.  He also would like to thank the hospice unit in the VA Lake City.

It is time for this warrior to finally Rest In Peace in The Punch Bowl near his father.
