Wanda Estelle Thomas Stubbart passed away peacefully August 24, 2024, at a hospital near her new home in St. Augustine, Florida. She had just recently turned 94.
Wanda was born August 13, 1930, in Middletown, Ohio. She was the fifth child of Oscar R and Cora Ethel (Oliver) Thomas. Wanda helped raise her younger siblings, only one of whom survives – Jerry Thomas.
Wanda had many careers. She received her Bachelor’s degree in 1952 in Music Education, with a minor in German Education, from Denison University in Granville, Ohio. She married Kenneth James Stubbart October 4, 1954, and supported the family by working for a doctor’s office while Ken completed his Bachelor’s degree. Wanda taught piano to many students over the years. She taught music in the Columbus City Schools elementary schools for several years. She became a technical typist at Western Electric in 1974, working her way up to writing and delivering training courses around the world. Her favorite places to travel were Singapore, The Netherlands, and England. She retired in 1995, then went back to work for her daughter, Robin, at the same company she had retired from.
Wanda and Ken raised 4 children: Bonita Lynn [Bunni], who passed in 2017; Dale (Terry); Robin; and Laura (Kent), who has 2 children – Colleen (Eric), who have 2 children – Caleb and Lucy, and Jay (Amanda).
Wanda was a passionate pianist, who recorded several albums on her electronic piano. She would give copies of her CDs to anyone who wanted one. Wanda accompanied innumerable students, choirs, soloists, ensembles, and any other person who asked her to, often at the last minute. She was an outstanding sight reader, and she had an innate musical ability.
Her family and friends in Ohio had an opportunity to wish her well before she moved to Florida, and she was overjoyed at the kind and loving comments she received from everyone.
Two of the many organizations with which Wanda was associated were The Community of Christ, Worthington congregation, and The Saturday Music Club. Both of these organizations held going away celebrations for Wanda before she moved to Florida.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Stubbart family.

I will always cherish the times we spent together. Aunt Wanda and Uncle Ken were so good at opening their home to anyone (and they frequently did). They were a joy to have on vacation because there was always laughter and music. We remember her fondly and with love.
Wanda was a remarkable woman. Though our interactions were few, she made an impact upon my life. Her wit, smile, wisdom, and strength were evident in every meeting. RIP Wanda. Thank you for gracing my life with your presence.
I will always remember Wanda as a beautiful member of my church family. The Thomas children were all gifted in music and I cherish my memories of those experiences. Jerry and extended family members I express my Deepest Sympathy

I only met Wanda once when she sat in my chair for me to to cut her hair. I’m a hair stylist in Columbus OH and she came and shared many stories with me. I also have a degree in music and loved that we could share that together. She was such a spirit that I wrote about her on my personal Facebook that day and how I had met this most fantastic person and couldn’t wait to see her again. She even promised me one of her CDs, which I would still love to get if that’s at all possible. I was sad to read of her passing and am sending love to those who knew her. She made an impact on those around her, I only had her in my chair for 30 minutes, I could imagine those who knew her for a lifetime.
