Leland W. Ruble (88) of Newberry, FL passed away peacefully, September 11, 2024, in Haven Suwannee Valley Hospice Care Center, from a heart condition, with family by his side.
Leland ( Lee ) was born March 6, 1936 in Rush County IN. The son of Elza and Bonnie ( Glenn ) Ruble. Survivors: wife of 46 years, Jean Dreyer Ruble of Newberry, Fl. ( 5 ) Children; Debbie ( Mike ) Crews of High Springs Fl, Mark Ruble of Earlton Fl, David Ruble of Earlton Fl, Jimmy Sealey of Kansas City, Missouri and Mike Sealey ( Michele Fick ). Newberry Fl. ( 7 )Grandchildren: Michael Crews Jr, Jadyn Ruble, Seth Ruble, Malia Markham, Marissa Marshall, Ashtin Shaw and Courtney Shaw. ( 2 ) Great Grandchildren; Hummel and Railyn. ( 1 ) Brother; Darrel Ruble and ( 2 ) sisters Georgia Holmes and Loretta Holmes. Many nieces, nephews, the Teltest family and many friends.
Preceded in death: Ex wife; Dot Hash, ( 7 ) Brothers; David, Ralph, Dale, Alvin, Marvin, Jimmy and Richard. ( 4 ) Sisters: Glenna Robinson, Royla Dane, Sally York and Sharon Councellor.
Lee graduated high school in Clarksburg IN. He won the State championship in cross country, his Senior year. Enlisted in the Navy, 1955 - 1958. He was deployed to the Mediterranean aboard the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt. During his deployment he visited Spain, France, Italy, just to name a few and His favorite, Greece. His passion for electronics began aboard the ship and became a life long profession.
He started his career in Gainesville, with Vital Industries in 1970 as the production manager and the last 43 years with Teltest, working up until the very day of acute heart failure.
In the early 1970’s, he spearheaded and succeeded with help of local parents of the deaf and hearing impaired children start the first and only classroom in Alachua County at Sidney Lanier Elementary. ( Cute story on how he met his future wife ). David was going to eat pizza with the neighbor and her two sons and says, my daddy hasn’t eaten. Jean, see if he wants to go with us and he accepted, they were married the following year. He loved singing, listening to music of all genres, going to concerts, movies, playing the harmonica, going out to eat and most of all being around people, spending time with family, friends and his cats.
The family is planning A celebration of life to be held at a later date.
