Colin Jackson Williams, aged 82, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2024, in Gainesville, Florida. Born in Williford in Gilchrest County Florida on December 12, 1941, Colin dedicated his life to his passions and his family, leaving behind a legacy of resilience and kindness.
Colin grew up attending school in Branford and graduated from Branford High School in 1960 then furthered his education at North Florida Junior College in Madison, Florida, and John A. Gupton College of Mortuary Science. His career began in 1963 at Biggs Wilson Funeral Home in Lake City, Florida, where he started as an apprentice and ambulance jockey. In the 1970s, Colin transitioned into the real estate sector, where he thrived for many decades until his retirement.
A man of faith, Colin was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Branford and Mt Pleasant Baptist Church in High Springs. His life was marked by a deep love for the outdoors; he was an avid hunter and fisherman, often found running dogs or enjoying food & fellowship at the famous Lulu Hilton. His sense of humor and love for a good laugh were contagious to all who knew him.
Colin is survived by his wife of 61 years, Shirley B. Williams; daughters, Melissa W. Nancarrow and Gloria Marie Worrell (Vince) 3 grandchildren, Mckenzi Perkins, Jaxson Perkins, and Mason Nancarrow; 3 step-grandchildren, Tyler Perkins, Tim Perkins, and Damyon Worrell; 2 great-grandchildren, Arabella Lerra and Avanna Perkins; a brother, Charles D Williams (Marilyn); and sisters, Shirley Hatch and Nan Sherwood and also a host of nephews, nieces, great & great great nephews & nieces which he dearly loved and was often praising. He was preceded in death by an infant boy at birth and his parents, Charles Don Williams and Lois Philpot Williams Handley.
