Janine Raymer Wootton, 73, of Bell, Forida, passed away on January 17th, surrounded by family, after a long illness. She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Tom Wootton, her son, Dennison Miller, her daughter Guinevere Shample, and son-in-law Kevin Shample, her sister, Linda Raymer, sister-in-law Linell Ela and her husband Vern Ela, brother-in-law Lane Fusilier, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sister Candace Raymer.
Born in 1951 in Great Lakes, Illinois, to naval officer Frank Raymer and dance instructor Lillie Raymer, Janine lived in Panama for a few years before her family retired to Miami, where both of her parents became high school teachers. She was a lifelong animal lover, fostering many strays, and always had dogs as companions.
Janine was an avid rockhound, and gemologist; she worked for a while as a jeweler. She served for a year as president of the Gainesville Gem and Mineral society. She was an amateur musician who sang and played piano and guitar, often collaborating with local friends.
She graduated Santa Fe College and became a registered nurse, working for several years at the pediatric bone marrow transplant unit at Shands hospital.
