David Wilson Mann
05/20/1947-02/26/2025
David passed into the arms of Jesus on February 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the only child of Hubert and Louise Mann and was born on May 20, 1947, in Lynchburg, Virginia. He grew up on a tobacco farm in Brookneal, Virginia, and attended William Campbell High School in Naruna, Virginia, Class of 1964, where he played basketball.
David loved his country and was a veteran of the United States Air Force (1966-1970) and served in Alaska, California, and Florida. David had various occupations throughout his life, but his favorite job was that of being a Husband, Dad, Grandpa and Great Grandpa.
David and Becky met in Raleigh, North Carolina and were married on March 8, 1980, then moved to Gainesville, Florida after Becky finished her training for Nationwide Insurance. David was welcomed into the Batchelor family with open arms and instantly became one of the family. David was a loving father to Rick (Melissa), Pam and Andrew, and loving grandfather to Taylor (Emilee), Baleigh (Matthew), Colton, Shane (Trinity), and Mason, and great-grandfather to Aspen, Ellie, and Zeke.
David loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Northwest Baptist Church serving as Deacon and Sunday School Teacher. David never met a stranger and considered everyone a friend. He loved to share his faith, his life, his mistakes, and his love with everyone. He always had a story to tell and sound advice to share. Jesus and family came first, followed by his loyalty and love for old and new friends, and he made many lifelong friends.
David enjoyed family sea cruising, family celebrations and gatherings, vegetable gardening, salt water fishing, visiting Cedar Key, Florida and Rock Hall, Maryland, drag racing, and he enjoyed rooting for the Florida Gators!
