Linda Louise Holt, 77, of St. Johns, FL passed away on March 26, 2025.
Linda was born to Fred Holt, Jr and Eileen Holt in Brewton, AL. Her father was an agricultural educator, and later elementary school principal where she attended school. Her mother was a homemaker and doting mother. Later, her sister, Carol, was born. They moved to Gainesville, Florida and then to Athens, Georgia so her father could be a professor of counselor education at the University of Georgia. Linda graduated high school and attended the University of Georgia, graduating in 1969 with a degree in English Education.
She married Larry Bostic and moved 11 times between 1969 and 1984. Some of her favorite memories were traveling around Europe, including Spain and Portugal. Linda considered two places as home because she spent much of her adult life there: Green Cove Springs, FL and Haymarket, VA. She appreciated having access to a large city but loved a quieter lifestyle living in more rural communities.
In 1984, Linda and her family moved from Green Cove Springs to Haymarket where she lived until 2006. While there, she worked at Flint Hill Preparatory School as an assistant to the Development Director. Then, she transitioned to Flint Hill School as a school secretary and later served as the assistant to the Athletic Director. One of her professional joys was spending time with students, mentoring those who sought it, and being an asset to everyone. Personally, Linda loved to garden and to tend to plants in her yard. She was known to get the entire family out in the garden during the spring and then cook up the harvest during the summer and fall. She also deeply cared for her pets and animals that visited the yard, and to visit with neighbors. She loved her pets and would often take pictures of them. Linda’s dogs over the years included Sunshine, Goldie, Ranger, Penny, and Daisy Mae. Cats included Misty, Blue Nun, Caesar, Cleopatra, Merlin, Freddy, and Queenie.
Linda completed her Masters in Education at George Mason University and transitioned back to a teaching position. She was a Reading Teacher at Marsteller Middle School in Virginia. Linda encouraged others to read, challenged her students to think critically and to learn from others, and she shared happiness and smiles with everyone. Later, she continued to teach at Highland School in Warrenton, VA.
In 2006, she returned to the greater Jacksonville region – ultimately settling in St. Johns in 2008. Linda spent her time going to the beach, visiting with her family, and serving as a full-time substitute teacher at Orange Park High School, where she was beloved by faculty and students. One of her happy places was the beach, particularly the beaches in St. Augustine and Vilano. Linda passed away quickly following a brief and unexpected illness, and was surrounded by her family.
Linda is survived by her sister, Carol Baldwin (Scott), as well as two sons and four grandchildren. Terence (Heather) and Jonathan (Brynn). Her grandchildren are Paige (age 21), Chloe (age 18), Matthew (age 12), and Josephine (age 9).
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Holt family.

I met Linda five years ago while substituting at Orange Park High School. We immediately became beloved friends. Linda was beautiful, smart, kind, cared about all her friends, loved the beach and books, loved her cats, and her family. She was always texting me to please pray for a sick friend or relative. She loved Jesus❤️. Orange Park High School is not the same without her…
Linda was always very kind to me. Opening her home to me as another son as she did for many of Terences freinds in highschool. Thank you for the time we spent together laughing in their family kitchen.
The world has lost a beautiful person. Her singing voice still fills my heart with joy . For over 30 years she brought joy to my life. I will miss her every day.
Linda will always be in my heart. We spent much time together with our fur babies. She will greatly be missed.
I was Linda's neighbor for the past 3 years having just recently moved had been staying in touch with her. Linda was one of the sweetest ladies I have ever met , from making me fudge around the holidays every year to just having simple conversations outside our house. Love you forever Linda and say hello to Freddie for me.
Always loving, always willing to talk with you.
Linda was my teacher when I was at Orange Park highschool. We have stayed in touch for 15+ years. She was my best friend, a mother figure in my life. She was there for me and my family. She loved to see my girls grow up. I wish she could be here to watch them go into grade school. My girls love books because of you. I miss our monthly lunch dates. I miss you so much. Everyday I think of you. Rest in peace. I love you.
