Louise Marguerite Smock
 July 28, 1936 – April 14, 2025

Louise Smock passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease, at Magnolia Ridge Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 88 years old.

Born in Mishawaka, Indiana, on July 28, 1936, Louise was the beloved daughter of Joseph and Betty David. She grew up with her older siblings, Joseph and Mary Jane, and carried a deep love for her family throughout her life.

On May 21, 1960, Louise married David Smock, and together they built a life rooted in love, family, and faith. They raised two sons, David Joseph and Andrew Lawrence. Though she suffered the heartbreaking loss of her son David to a brain aneurysm in 1987, Louise remained a strong and steady presence, keeping her family united and moving forward with grace and resilience.

Louise and David made their home in Indiana, Maryland, and finally in Florida, and in each place, she nurtured a warm and welcoming home. She was known for her smile, perfectly vacuumed carpet lines, and a big bowl of fresh fruit on the kitchen table. Her ability to connect with people led to lasting friendships with neighbors and community members, many of whom join the family in mourning her loss.

She is survived by her devoted husband of nearly 65 years, David; her son Andrew (Elizabeth); her cherished grandchildren Alex, Jessica, Riley, Jackson, and Kennedy; and her niece Judith Chase. Louise was a loving wife and a proud, caring mother, but she especially loved and shined brightest as a grandmother.

Some of her happiest moments were spent with her grandchildren.  Through laughter and whatever crazy games they came up with, she was always in for fun. She also found great joy in cooking and baking.  Her chocolate chip cookies and homemade Lebanese dishes were family favorites and are deeply missed. Louise loved playing Mahjong, Bunco and cards with her friends and family, sharing in the simple, joys of life. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in her memory to Alzheimer’s research.
