Claudette Faye Redmond

April 17, 2025

It is with both sadness and joy that we wish to share that Claudette Faye Redmond (Pinchie to most!) passed away on April 17 from advanced Alzheimer's Disease. Claudette was 89 ½ when she went to heaven to be with her Mom & Dad, sister, brother, niece & nephew during Holy Week. How wonderful that she can hear the angels sing!

Claudette was born in Kingston, Tennessee to Claude & Willie Mae Redmond, who then raised their family in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. When Claudette was in high school in Oak Ridge dating Bill Rains, (the man that was to be the father of her children), her niece/little sister Debbie who came to live with them as a toddler went on many of those dates as a mini chaperone! In fact, her daughters only recently learned that it was Debbie that first labeled Mom “Pinchie” because she could not say Claudette.

Claudette was an amazing cook! She made the best pot roast, the best cupcakes, and cinnamon apples that were out of this world. But topping them all was Pinchie’s chocolate pies with homemade crust and perfect méringue. Claudette was a bowler, a tough card player, and went on to become quite the Bingo Queen in later years.

Claudette moved her family to Winston-Salem NC in the mid-seventies, where she met and married Bill Bishop who had a son Marc Bishop who become part of the family at 13. Claudette was an excellent sales-person, who was known to be able to sell “snowballs to eskimos” whether working in high end jewelry or diet centers. Claudette inspired many men and women to lose substantial weight while gaining new confidence as they transformed their lives. Confidence was one thing that Pinchie never lacked! But she also had a huge heart and would help anyone in need.

Claudette leaves behind many that loved her, including her nieces Donna and Debbie (and many others), her oldest daughter Teri Brambilla along with her son’s Drew & Daniel and his wife Ashley Zachmann, her youngest daughter Dana along with her son James (JJ) Campbell, and her step-son Marc Bishop. Claudette was preceded in death by her brother Don Redmond and her sister Lois. She also leaves behind her dear sister Libby and her wonderful nieces and nephews Carol, Kay, Rick & David. By last count, I believe Claudette had as many as twelve “daughters” or so we told the nurses! For all of those sweet souls that loved our mom so much, we thank you and please know how much you meant to her.

The family will have a day of celebration later this year to follow our mother’s wishes by spreading her ashes in the Smokey Mountains. Entrance requirements are at least one fabulous “Pinchie” story. Details to follow this fall.

She will be greatly missed! We love you, Memaw – Mom - Pinchie. Rest well.

In lieu of flowers, if your heart compels you, please donate in Claudette Redmond’s honor to BrightFocus at https://donate.brightfocus.org › fund-the-cure › 2X-match . Let’s find a cure for Alzheimer’s and stop this terrible suffering.

Guestbook

  1. My entire family will miss her so very much. We loved her and will cherish our many memories. Hugs and love to her girls and grandsons.

  2. I will miss my Pinchie. She loved me so much when I was a toddler and she was always there for me. We were so close and as I grew up with her daughters we were like sisters. In fact, Teri's youngest son actually thought we were sisters until he was around 11 years old and found out we were cousins. After living in England for several years, when I moved back to the states I lived with Pinch until I got my own place – which I did, only a few doors down from her. She loved country music, and we would go once a week to do a little boot scootin'. When in the car, we would play and sing Enya's song, Sail Away, which she loved. I have always had that song as one of my ringtones so now when I hear it I know she has sailed away to heaven. Rest in peace Pinchie. I loved you so much.
