John Fitzhugh Repass

John Fitzhugh Repass, 86, passed away peacefully at his home in St. Augustine, Florida, on May 1, 2025. Born on December 28, 1938, in Roanoke, Virginia, John's roots in the mountains of Virginia never left him. He carried with him a deep love for the outdoors throughout his life—he was an avid runner, tennis player, cyclist and hiker who found joy in exercise and staying active.

John graduated from Fork Union Military Academy before earning his degree from the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss). After college, he served in the Army Reserves and later built a long career as a stockbroker with Merrill Lynch in Ocala, Florida.

Those who knew John remember his great sense of humor that made him a joy to be around. He often made others laugh easily. He also had a deep appreciation for time spent in the mountains, which remained a beloved escape for him throughout his life.  John was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in St. Augustine, FL and served on the finance committee.

John is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Nancy Fann Repass; his sons, John R. Repass of Mars Hill, NC, and D. R. Repass (wife Kasey Repass) of Jacksonville, FL; his stepson, Winn Keeton of Ocala, FL; and his stepdaughter, Cassie Keeton Barnett of Spruce Pine, NC.

He is also survived by his grandchildren: J. Lee Repass, 22;  Robinson Repass, 20; and Ryleigh Repass, 15 (children of D.R. Repass); Evan Keeton, 10 (son of Winn Keeton); and Britton Barnett, 13, Isaiah Barnett, 15, and Ayla Barnett, 18 (children of Cassie Keeton Barnett).
