In Loving Memory of James "Jim" Harold Spurrell
May 2, 1946 – June 4, 2025

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of James "Jim" Harold Spurrell, who passed away peacefully on June 4, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida, at the age of 79. He had been a proud resident of Columbus, Ohio for the past 35 years.

Born on May 2, 1946, in Lansing, Michigan, Jim was a man of quiet strength, humility, and deep devotion to his family. He was the beloved husband of Cindy Spurrell for 32 beautiful years—a once-in-a-lifetime partnership defined by love, laughter, and unshakable support.

Jim was a proud Vietnam veteran who served in the U.S. Navy with honor. His service reflected the same courage and loyalty he carried throughout his life.

He was a devoted and loving father to his sons Larry (Jodi), Kevin (Tracie), and Patrick (Angela); and his daughters Donnelle (Brad), Nicole (Keith), and his chosen daughter Rona (Blake), along with their families, including grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He also leaves behind his brother Richard (Butch), and sisters Kathy (Dave), Pam (Steve), and Julie, as well as several nieces and nephews, all of whom he held close in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arnold and Mary Spurrell, and his little brother, David Spurrell. He was also preceded in death by his sister-in-law Patty (wife of Butch) and his brother-in-law Jeff (husband of Julie). While those losses were deeply felt, Jim carried their memory with love and now joins them in eternal peace.

A devoted Christian, Jim loved and followed Jesus faithfully throughout his life. His strong faith shaped the way he lived—with kindness, compassion, and quiet confidence in God's grace. He was a man of integrity, humor, and unwavering love, who lived out his beliefs in everyday acts of care and service.

Jim will be remembered for his warm smile, his compassionate spirit, and the way he made everyone feel seen and valued. Whether sharing a story, offering a helping hand, or simply being present, Jim’s presence brought peace and comfort.

A loyal Columbus Crew fan since the beginning, Jim proudly held season tickets for several years and cheered them on with true dedication.

He also leaves behind special friends Amanda, Sarah, and the Pepe Dogs Family, who held a meaningful place in his heart and life.

Jim Spurrell’s love, faith, and strength will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
