Gainesville FL- Ivan Floyd Chubb, 86 died at 6:02 am Wednesday, July 16th at the Lake City , Florida VA , Serenity Place for Veterans.
He was born on February ,22nd, 1939 in Clinton, Indiana to Ivan Eugene Chubb and Virginia Maxine Craig.
Ivan was preceded in death by his wife of 36 years, Nola Lyn Mattioda. He had seven children and stepchildren, as well as many grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Ivan was a IBEW electrician,
Millwright, and pipe fitter.
His friends called him "Chubby", professionally he was known as the guy who could fix it and make it run.
He was a member of several Masonic Lodges, the Scottish Rite (KCCH), York Rite, Eastern Star , and the Shrine Club.
He was a supporter of the local youth group De Molay.
Ivan was commander of the VFW and American Legion. He was a lifetime member of the AMVETS and DAV.
He spent much of his time with the Marine Corps League supporting veterans.
He was active and involved in the community, and a supporter the Indian Foundation.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a Veterans organization.

Ivan will be missed by many veterans and community leaders. His life travel was to help as many folks as possible. I believe he accomplished that journey with pride and honor and I am glad to have had him as my friend and a brother Mason.
