Michelle C. McConnell

March 8, 1946 ~ July 23, 2025

Michelle C. McConnell passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday July 23, 2025 in the loving company of her life-partner, supportive friends and care givers.

Michelle or Mika as she was known, was a loving, hard-working person with a caring & nurturing spirit towards all. Born in 1946 in Pineville Kentucky, she graduated high school in Detroit Michigan and immediately moved to Miami Florida to be near her sister and The Beach.  It was there that she studied & began a nursing career that would be the cornerstone of her work life. During her 40 years in health care, Mika worked as a Registered Nurse in both private and public settings including the Broward County Health Department, providing skilled and compassionate care to all.  Possibly her greatest work was done as a teacher at Miami Dade Community College where she trained the next generation of nurses in the community.

Throughout her life Mika held a deep love for The Ocean; spending time in and around ocean waters was always her happiest place.  That love she shared with those who survive her including spouse Claire Jordahl, son Ian (Tara) Schweid, grandson Max Schweid, nephew Gary Eagle, nieces Carla Eagle and Robin Eagle-Massey.  She was preceded in death by her sister Jackie Eagle Goins in 2024.

The family wishes to thank all the skilled & compassionate healthcare providers, including Mayo Clinic and Community Hospice, who took great care of her over the years as she battled with chronic illness.

Her legacy of helping others, teaching and loving passionately will live on for generations.

Guestbook

  1. Mika was my wonderful friend for 50+ years.  My kids and I considered her our Florida family. We loved her dearly and will miss her terribly.

  2. Aunt Sherry, as I fondly called her was like a second mom to me. She was a big part of my life growing up. I will cherish the memories I have of her and will miss her deeply.
    Love you,

  3. Grandma Mika, I can say I enjoyed you until the very last moment. Thank you for helping me grow as a person, for always being there for me, and for taking care of me the way you did. My little headache, you don't know how much I'm going to miss you. I love you.
