Ronald Wallace Ramage

October 9, 1942 ~ August 24, 2025

Ronald Wallace Ramage, 82, of The Villages, Florida, formerly of Northeast Ohio, passed away peacefully on August 24, 2025 in Gainesville, Florida, surrounded by loved ones.

Ron was born on October 9, 1942 in Ravenna, Ohio. He proudly served in the United States Air Force from March 7, 1961 until December 22, 1964. After his service he carried the same sense of dedication into civilian life, working in many professions through the years. He spent much of his career as a CDL truck driver and continued working full time until the age of 81, when he finally retired.

Ron was known for his strong work ethic, meticulous care for his home and yard, and his love of tinkering and fixing things. He rarely sat still and always had a project in motion. He loved boating, being outdoors, and was happiest when spending time with family and friends. He is remembered for his warm and infectious smile that could light up any room. Outgoing and friendly, he never met a stranger. His ability to make others feel seen and welcomed was truly special. A trusted friend to many, he built lasting connections wherever he went and left behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and genuine care.

He is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 39 years, Beverly Ramage; his sister, Sharon Davis (William); his children, Luann Morrison, Ernie Hartman (Sheri), Scott Hartman (Daleen), Scott Ramage (Denise), and Shawna Benson (Gordon); as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Gertrude Ramage, and his brother, Jerrie Ramage (Becky).

In place of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation or to a children’s charity of your choice, in honor of Ron’s love for family.

  1. About a month before his passing Ron & Bev came to OH for a visit. Typical Ron, he was concerned about my care. He was a great guy. We hugged goodbye & that’s what I’ll always remember. Ron really cared about everyone & he wanted you to know it! Take it easy cousin

  2. I worked with Ron at Gilchrist polymer center and later went to the same church. He was alway made you feel welcome treating you with a smile.

  3. RIP. DOC
It was a pleasure, knowing you and working with you all those years at WMW. YOU WERE DEFINITELY A GENTLEMAN’S GENTLEMAN.

  4. I had the pleasure of knowing Ron and got to do allot of things with him. Ron didn't know an enemy and had a great attitude and just a pleasure to be around I miss Ron and will for the rest of my days. I can only imagine the grief that Bev is trying to deal with. I love you both. Fred

  5. Bev, you know we love you and Ron.We've had some fun times together.we will miss him immensely. You take care of your self.

  6. Ernie, Bev, and family. So sad of Ron's passing. The few times I was around him he always had a huge smile and was very welcoming. He seemed very comfortable with his step children and they showed him he was loved. Loss is hard, remember he is with you in spirit and memories are to be celebrated. Love to you all and prayers for Ron.

  7. Daddio, it still seems like a bad dream! I can't believe that you really aren't here! We all miss you so very much! You weren't suppose to leave us! Please, watch over mom and show her signs that you will always be with her! This hasn't been easy for Fred on you passing either cuz you meant a lot to him also and he would do anything in this world for you n mom and I'm sure he proved that for all the stuff he did for you both thru the years! I LOVE N MISS YOU SO MUCH! I can't wait till we see each other again. Love your daughter forever n ever
    Xxooxxoo

  8. Ron was a wonderful brother-in-law, always looking out for me when I was around, and an indispensable help when our Mom was diagnosed with Alzheimer's… she trusted him even after she stopped trusting her own daughters. He was such a charming man, full of humor and good cheer, and offering a timely wise word when it was needed. I credit him with giving me courage to do a difficult thing when others were encouraging me to leave things as they were, though he was clear that it was my decision and he supported me either way. He's missed so much!
