Lorraine Ann Comfort

April 25, 1956 ~ October 7, 2025

Born in: Trenton, New Jersey
Resided in: Jacksonville, Florida

Lorraine A. Comfort (Mannix), 69, moved into the Kingdom of Heaven peacefully on October 7, 2025, at Haven Hospice in Orange Park, Florida.

Born and raised in Mercer County, New Jersey, she graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1974. Lorraine spent her career as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) after graduating from The Bryman School. She worked for many private practices, The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), and spent a period of time sharing her knowledge teaching her craft. Lorraine loved her work and felt her calling in life was to her patients.

After a lifetime in Mercer County, NJ, she made a courageous choice at the age of 60 to move south to be closer to her children and grandchildren, where she spent the remainder of her life living with her daughter, Casey. Some of her best memories were made enjoying family time once they were all closer.

In her free time, she loved gardening, bird watching, music and decorating. She had a special ability to make any place sparkle and feel warm and inviting. She was an avid animal lover. Her most cherished memories were spending time with her best friend and emotional support dog, Lucy.

Daughter of the late Thomas J. Mannix II and Rose Mannix, she was preceded in death by her brother, Thomas J. Mannix III, and sister, Mary Margaret Mannix.

She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Bernhard of Wrightstown, NJ; her brother, Joseph Mannix of Flemington, NJ; and many beloved nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and
great-nephews.

She also leaves behind her children, their spouses, and grandchildren:
Elizabeth, Daniel, and Amelia Baucom of Gastonia, NC.
Steven, Patty, Carlee, and Logan Schmelz of Milton, FL.
Casey, Stephen, Adalynn Hooper, and Grace Davis of Jacksonville, FL.

Additionally, she is survived by her maternal uncle and aunt, George and Janet Koscak of Columbus, NJ; her paternal aunt and Godmother, Mary Ellen Doheny of Enola, PA; and many cousins.

Please contact the family for details on the upcoming services they are holding.

  1. For my Best Friend, my Cuz, my Sister. I miss you so very much. But I know you are with Our Lord, and you are my Angel. I love you my sweet Lorraine ❤️🙏❤️

  2. A very dear friend with whom I shared many good times during our Grobanite days. I know you’re with Jesus now in eternity. Lorraine left a lasting impression on everyone she met. I know her family was very blessed to have her as long as they did, and they are impacted by her spiritual legacy of knowing and trusting in Jesus her Lord and Savior. Rest in peace my friend.
