Margarett R. Blagg

October 14, 2025

Margarett Annette Royster Fant Blagg, born February 12, 1942, in Lakeland, Florida, to the late Winton Ray and Minnie Mabel Stegmaier Royster, a beloved long-time resident of Morriston, sadly left our world on October 14, 2025 at the age of 83 after a life richly lived in service and kindness. Known for playing the piano and organ at Morriston Baptist Church for many years before her disability, Margarett was a beacon of light and hope in our community, touching lives through making canvas craft crosses for the mission field, lap blankets for the Hospice, and kissing Santas for anyone with children.

Margarett graduated from Melrose High School and Gulf Coast Bible College in Houston, Texas.

Her journey on this earth was marked by love, compassion, and unwavering faith in God. Her passing has left a void in the hearts of her family, friends, and many more whose lives were touched by her. We ask that you remember her not for how her life ended, but for how it was lived, and for the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Margarett was a hard worker, deeply enjoyed gardening, picking pecans, and crocheting. She spent most of her life enjoying driving tractors for the family ranch, growing peanuts, and riding in the truck right beside the love of her life, Mr. Maxie Fant, whom she wed in 1979.

Aside from her parents, Margarett is preceded in death by her husband of sixteen years, Maxie Arch Fant; her husband of eleven years, Herbert Bruce Blagg; her brother, John Royster; and her aunt, Madeline Stegmaier.

Margarett is survived by one son, Ben (Rose) Fant; grandsons Jaden (Brooke) Fant and Coye Fant; three great-grandchildren: Scarlett, Archie, and Brynn; two brothers: Ralph (Marcia) Royster and Dan (Dale) Royster.

True to her humble core values, Margarett did not want anyone taking time away from work, farm responsibilities, or from their families for her, so she requested that the family not arrange a memorial service honoring her.   Her last wishes for her final disposition is being managed through Crevasse’s Simple Cremation.

In lieu of flowers, Margarett requested an expression of gratitude to caregivers and medical personnel with donations to Haven Hospice.
Although Margarett’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, her spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May her memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth her legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. As you continue to worship Jesus up there, mama, grandma, and sister, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Blagg Family

  1. Aunt Margarett was a special lady. I remember spending a few weeks in the summer with her while I was in high school. A lot of great memories have been made over the years. I still treasure the crocheted Easter eggs that she made for us. We use them every Easter and think about Aunt Margarett. Time to rest in Gods loving arms and reunite with loved ones.

  2. Sure will miss Ms. Fant and our talks and teaching me how to bake pecan pie and peanut brittle. Truly a blessing to me in the few years I have gotten close to her.

  3. May the memories of a life well lived bring you comfort and peace. My sincere condolences for your family’s loss.

  4. Ms. Margaret was such a blessing to everybody. My family loved her very much. She always was making something and giving it to Kyle, Kaleb, and Mende when they were children, the Easter eggs, a little Santa Claus that held candy , the cross book markers. We always enjoyed spending time with her  when we would visit the Fant Ranch. She will be missed.

  5. I know she hopped in Mr. Maxi's truck to heard cattle as soon as she was in the pearly gates. She always had book markers, easter eggs and Santa's crocheted for the little ones at church, and sat with me to welcome home Coye and the Williston state champion baseball team, and always had a strawberry cake for cake auction for youth camp. Always working the farm and for others . Prayers for the family

  6. I can picture Ms. Margarett riding beside Mr. Maxi in the truck beside him in the truck.  Driving a tractor with a Peanut Wagon in tow.   Such a strong example of hard work, love and devotion.  God gave Mr. Maxi the perfect help mate here on earth.  A shining, Godly example for younger women.

  7. Ben, ai am so sorry to hear of your mother’s passing. Sending my thoughts and prayers for you and your family.
