Anita Joan Stanis

September 4, 1946 ~ October 28, 2025

Born in: Boston, MA
Resided in: Jacksonville, FL

I have my grandmother’s hands. They are the most beautiful hands; they’re the same hands that read to me as a child, and the same hands that drew protective runes on my forehead before going on a trip. I held them as she gently and peacefully passed away on October 28, 2025 aged 79, and surrounded by her loved ones in her home in Jacksonville, FL. My grandmother Anita Stanis was born on September 04, 1946 in Needham, MA. She dedicated her life to helping others by getting her nursing degree from Point State Park, where she also met the love of her life, James Stanis, of whom she is survived by. She is also survived by her two beautiful daughters Allison Stanis and Rachel Markley, and her four loving grandchildren Griffin Epps, Olivia Simpson, Eden Markley and Cora Markley. There will be no services held as she only believed in a celebration of life, which will be announced at a later date. From the bottom of our hearts we say bon voyage, and safe travels!

  1. I only met her the one time on St Patrick’s day earlier this year but she was absolutely delightful. All my love and hugs! ♥️

  2. No words to describe Aniter! (My favorite name I called her when in her presence).
She and Jim were always welcoming. She spoke words of wisdo., never ever heard her raise her voice. Always a chuckle. Ji., what a guy. He was always entertaining with his quips, bringing everyone to a smile and laughter. Together, they were the best people you would ever want as friends. They looked after Jeff and Stacy as if their own. They treated all of Scenery Hill as family. No one can say more. I doubt if they ever locked their door… everyone was family.
Aniter will be missed and cherished as a special Lady and friend. She is flying high on wings so easily earned.
Miss you Aniter!!! Love Uncle R.

    • Thank You very much for your kind words. Anita and I moved to Florida to live with our daughter Allison, and we loved it. Cancer took Anita very quickly and it has been a difficult time for us, the holiday season is melancholy for us.

  5. Dear Jim, It’s been too many years. I just learned of Anita’s passing. I am so very sorry for your loss. I immediately went through some very old photos from the early 70’s. One is particularly sweet of you and Anita hugging and giggling. I put them in the mail. I hope they bring a smile to your heart. Love always, Auntie Barb from long ago.
