James Robert McGinley

James Robert McGinley, 78, of St Augustine, Florida, passed away on February 7th, 2026, following battles with heart and kidney issues.

Born on March 29, 1947, in Kansas City, MO, James was the son of the late Peter and Mildred McGinley. He graduated from Bishop Miege High School in 1965.

James married Mary Van Roekel in 1989, with whom he shared a life full of adventure and love. He was the father of two sons, one from a previous marriage and one raised with Mary. James was an avid woodworker, loved the beach, and boating and fishing at the lake.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his sons, Steve McGinley of Kansas City, MO, and Mason McGinley of Chicago, IL; his grandchildren, Collin, Joshua and Eleanora; his sisters, Judy Bernardi of Kansas City, MO and Joan Bennett of Kansas City, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.
