Marianne Jacobs Moore passed away peacefully February 21, 2026 at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida with her family at her side. Marianne was born December 17, 1933 in Birmingham, Alabama. Her family moved to Jacksonville, Florida where she graduated from Robert E. Lee High School.
Marianne graduated from Duke University in 1956 with a major in zoology. From there she moved to Baltimore, Maryland where she met and married Robert Bly Moore. They remained married for 63 years until his death in 2020.
During their life together they had three daughters and lived in several places. They ended up in Dover, Ohio where they owned the Dutch Oven Restaurant in New Philadelphia, Ohio. After their children graduated high school, they moved to St. Augustine Beach, Florida. They loved St. Augustine, living there for almost 40 years until Robert’s death. Marianne also started her second career with HR Block. Marianne worked her way up to Regional Manager of Northeast Florida. During the tax off-season, Robert and Marianne travelled the United States and the world. Marianne retired from HR Block at the young age of 80.
After Robert’s passing, Marianne moved to the Village at Gainesville, Florida where she made many new friends and was always active. She always sat at the family table in the dining room so she could meet new people, learned to paint even though she was visually impaired, and never missed the weekly current events meeting.
Marianne is survived by her daughters, Marianne Jay Frimmel (Robert), Mary Marjean McKinnon, and Juliana Bly De Long (Kenneth); five grandchildren – Stephen Frimmel, John Frimmel, Alison Frimmel (Camden), James Brooks (Heather), Robert Brooks; and great granddaughter Elodie Brooks. She is predeceased by her husband, Robert; her parents, Albert and Mary Jacobs; her brother, Albert Jacobs Jr.; and son-in-law Paul McKinnon.
The family would like to send a special thank you to Haven Hospice for their wonderful care of our mother and our family during her passing. You took all the stress away and helped us through the process with such calm and kindness.
Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Moore family.
