Williams James Harrell, Sr
November 25, 1938 – Mary 29, 2026

     William James Harrell, Sr, 87, Windsor, Florida, passed away at his home on May 29, 2026. He was born in Durham, NC to Nannie Belle and James Harrell and was the only son of 4 children. He is preceded in death by his parents; the mother of his children Diedra Merrill Harrell; his sisters, Nancy Irene Grimsley and Peggy Harrell Barbour; daughter Karen Lee Harrell and son William James Harrell Jr. He is survived by his wife, Julia B. Harrell, children James Harrell (Dee), Amy Christmas (Scotty), Laura Keadle (Ralph), and James “Jaime” Harrell. Jr, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, a few great-great grandchildren and lots of family and friends that are not listed here.

     Bill will be remembered for his quick wit and devotion to his family. He was in the construction industry and owned Bill Harrell Plastering for many years. He has plastered, stucco’d, and built many homes in the Gainesville and surrounding area. Bill was a CHEVOROLET man, he loved collecting knives, guns and old cars, He was a huge fan of NASCAR; rarely missed a race held in Darlington, Charlotte, Atlanta, or Daytona; his all-time favorite driver was Dale Earnhardt Sr. He had countless nick names including Bill, Billy, Papa, Pa-Pill, Willie-Bob, Honey-Punoney, Kit-Kat Papa, and many more; he was also in-famous for giving others colorful/unique nick names, some earned some just because.

  1. Bill “aka” Kit Kat Poppa ” was certainly a great influence in my life and will truly be missed it was great to be a part of his sometimes crazy and hilarious jokes and always entertaining life.He is one of the greatest men I have had the pleasure to know.
