Jacquelyn Elisabeth Parsons Born: May 12, 1936 Death: September 11, 2026

9-11-2026 is now a great personal loss for me. Friday at 9:45 my Mom, Jackie to those who got to know her, gave up the fight to outlive me. When she made up her mind, things got done. She was only in Haven Hospice care for a couple of days. She was no longer suffering any pain Nor regrets.

Parents, Nell Presnell & Thomas Colon Barker Sr.

Jackie was survived by her son William Krause and three nieces. She was also blessed with grand children who called her Nana, unfortunately not by me. Although she always said that Motherhood was the best thing that she had ever done. And, she did it right the first time!

Family is only part of the story, She was so much more!

Born in Jacksonville, raised in the Okefenokee Swamp, she graduated Miami High School. She turned to University of Southern California, graduating in Literature and Phycology. Both to become Invaluable in her future. Combined with her super human abilities as a Secretary, She jumped both feet into Motherhood.

As a Feminist of the 60’s & 70’s, she soon found the time for several personal business adventures, including D&J’s Bar, out in the Oil fields of southern LA. (Where I learned to count.) An Operator for Ma Bell. She sold Swimming pools. All in LA. Always capable of filling in as a secretary, easily getting any job she put her mind to. Until her last Secretarial job she took as the secretary to the “Editor and Chef” of the “Miami News”. This was only the beginning of a long career in the newspaper business. After making lots of friends in the literary industry of the early 70’s, She turned to the next thing she had always done well, Sales! Murdoch was her first Media Mogul in 75, and not one to put up with “Chauvinistic Rules” She soon moved to New York City, and worked with “United Media” representing hundreds of artist over the next 5 years, and easily taking top sales, a multitude of times. Once winning a free Vacation trip anywhere in the USA. Then proceeded to convince her boss, it was cheaper to send her & me to ‘Europe with a Eur-rail Pass for 2 weeks. Pairs to Rome & back, YA!

After retiring from sales, she bought 5 aches and built a beautiful 3 bedroom home facing west on Waters Lake. Yet didn’t go far from the newspaper business. Continuing to Executive coaching for assorted artist with questions. And finally delivering ‘Newspapers’ in rural Gilchrest County, with her dog, Ozzy at 65! She also loved cats, but only one at a time. And enjoyed her Koi pond.

Her nearly 40 years of retirement was spent Happily playing Backgammon with her Besti! ‘Marry’ who followed her from Miami.
