Mississippi
Resided in: Gainesville, Florida

Shirley Inez Herron, 79, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully at home on October 10,
2026.

Born in Tunica County, Mississippi, Shirley was the daughter of Albert and Bertha Halcomb.
Throughout her life, she touched the hearts of many with her kindness, generosity, compassion, and
unwavering faith in God.

Shirley lived a life filled with love for her family, friends, and all of God’s creatures. She had a
special place in her heart for animals, especially her beloved kitties, whom she cared for with great
affection. She also enjoyed fishing and treasured life’s simple pleasures.

Her giving spirit extended beyond her home and family. Shirley supported numerous organizations,
including the Gainesville Church of Christ, the American Cancer Society, and the ASPCA, along
with many other charitable causes. Helping others was simply part of who she was.

Above all, Shirley cherished her family. The love she shared, the memories she created, and the
kindness she showed will forever remain in the hearts of those fortunate enough to have known her.

Shirley is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Nellie, Bonnie, Alice, Linda, Debra, Helen and Sandy; her stepdaughters, Diane Jaskier, Betsy Herron, and Nancy Ortez; her grandchildren, Kira Bariteau (Cory), Cameron Sexton, and Donald Sexton IV; and her great-grandchildren, Nathaniel Sexton and Link Bariteau. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Herron; her daughter, Teresa Teague;
her sister, Francis Halcomb; and her parents, Albert and Bertha Halcomb.

Although Shirley’s earthly journey has ended, her beautiful spirit and the love she gave so freely
will continue to live on through everyone whose life she touched. Her legacy is one of faith,
generosity, kindness, and unconditional love.

“God first, family second, and friends always in her heart.”
Until we meet again, your love will remain our greatest blessing.
