Alice Owens

Alice E. Owens, 83 of Gainesville, Florida passed away peacefully in her home on October 12th, 2021.

She was born to Herman and Maria Harz in Frankfurt Germany in 1938. She married the late Harvey Owens in 1958 in Germany and came to the States in 1959. She is survived by her 3 sons, Mike Owens and wife Kay of Mannville, Florida; Tom Owens and wife Karen of Archer, Florida and Andrew Owens and wife Michelle of Gainesville, Florida. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Alice was predeceased by her loving husband in 1988.

Alice was an accomplished photographer, having taught photography at UF and later, after the passing of her husband entered Santa Fe College in her 50’s and became an LPN specializing in work with patients with spinal cord injuries. Alice was proud of her children and grandchildren and also had an immense love for animals, especially her little dog Louie. Alice and Louie were inseparable. Alice loved to take him to the puppy park every day, brush him and make him special food. Louie brought a lot of happiness into her life every day.

  1. What a rich and wonderful life Alice had. I smiled when I read what was written about Louie. Inseparable, for sure. I hope that he is coping with the loss. As I hope and pray you guys are beginning to find peace and adjust to your mom’s passing.
