In Loving Memory of Allen Kurt Dunn
Allen “Kurt” Dunn, age 57, went into the arms of Jesus on May 27, 2025. He was a gift from God to his parents Charlotte Dunn (Braithwaite) and Kent Dunn on May 11, 1968 in Ft. Wainwright, AK during his father’s deployment in the Army.
The family moved to Tulsa, OK in 1969 and Kurt became the big brother to Todd in 1970 and Ron in 1972. The Dunn boys were active in all sports and Kurt paved their way in wrestling, baseball, basketball and football as competition in local and State championships became the norm in the Dunn household.
When the family moved to Jacksonville in 1984, Kurt attended high school at The Bolles School where he graduated in 1986. He lettered in their basketball and baseball programs. Kurt then attended the University of Florida for four years and majored in Building Construction. He became an avid “Gators” fan as a result. Later Kurt passed his General Contractors License. During his 17 years of employment at Coppenbarger Homes, he was a construction manager and later promoted to Vice President of Construction. Eventually he started his own company- Future Trends Construction and Real Estate.
Kurt leaves behind a legacy of kindness and integrity that will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Kurt was known for his gentle spirit, and had a thoughtful nature with a unique way of making people feel valued. His wisdom and calm demeanor were a source of comfort and strength when he mentored others. Whether offering a helping hand, sharing a quiet moment of encouragement, or telling stories that made everyone laugh, Kurt touched countless lives with his presence.
He found joy in the simple pleasures - trips to the beach, watching football, intensive Bible study, playing board games with a passion but most of all spending time with his wife, Meury, stepson Aaron and daughters Zoelle, Ella, and Olivia. Kurt was excited he would soon be a grandfather to his granddaughter Selah, first child of Josh and Ella Walton.
Kurt’s passing leaves a void that can never be filled. The love he gave through the coaching of others, will continue to guide and inspire. He is survived by his wife Meury, stepson Aaron, daughters, Zoelle Dunn, Ella Dunn-Walton and Olivia Dunn, mother Charlotte Braithwaite, stepfather Dan, brothers, Todd (Daniele) and Ron (Becky) step siblings Connie and Brian, and uncle, Ronnie Coppenbarger and aunt Tonja. His extended family included a multitude of cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Allen Kent Dunn and doting grandparents Doyle B. and Jean Coppenbarger.
For details of the visitation of the family please see posts of the obituary by family members on Facebook. In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in Kurt’s memory to the Teen Challenge Men’s Center of Jacksonville, 3333 Philips Hwy., Jacksonville, FL 33207.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Dunn family.

When I think of Uncle Kurt I always remember watching Gator games on TV with him. I’ve never really been into football and I had no idea what I was looking at, especially at that age, but I was the biggest Gator fan just because he was. I hope they have ESPN in heaven for you, Uncle Kurt.
Kurt was very humble and it was an honor to have met him. He will be missed by many!
The amount of time I had with you will never be enough. I will miss you as long as I’m alive. You are finally dancing with Jesus and that gives me peace. I love you with all of my heart and soul
When it comes to a memory about Kurt I don't even know where to start. I had the privilege of spending a lot of time with him at Teen Challenge and all I can say is that he made me laugh so much and so hard I would cry and fall on the floor. My favorite memory though is definitely playing rummikub with Kurt, Lance and Hesus in the chow hall at teen challenge. Genuinely loved that man.
Remembering all the great times we all had growing up and hanging with the boyz(Ty Curtis, Derek Huffman, Kevin Franklin, Mark Fivecoats, Mike Lambert, Curtis Cole) to name a few
Rest in Peace
From your family here in California, our hearts and prayers are with all of you. We join you in mourning and send so much love and support during this time. On a personal note, I have been reflecting on my time with Kurt, mostly as kids and into our early 20’s. I have great memories of watching him and his brothers playing baseball on my visits to Owasso as a young girl. One of my favorite memories, is when we were college aged and Kurt came to Southern California for a visit. I loved showing him around Newport Beach, Hollywood, Sunset Boulevard and finally, Tijuana Mexico. We had so much fun! I also remember taking my friends to Florida to hang out with Kurt and his friends. Shenanigans were had! But we had such a great time. Kurt was always so nice, always so welcoming and always so comfortable to be around! I only wish that we could’ve been as close in adulthood as we were when we were younger. Distance and life got in the way. I absolutely loved and adored you, Kurt! Please give my mom, Beverly the biggest hug. With love from all of us here in Southern California
Kurt was always a polite and respectful young man, as well as, he Grew up and Always a Gentleman. He was Blessed with a Wonderful Family 🙏❤️. Always in my Heart ❤️.
My dad was an amazing man , always keeping good spirts and making people smile. This will be the biggest loss of my life and he will forever be missed by many
My precious son…words can never explain the deep hole your passing has left in my heart. I think I’ll never be the same. You were my firstborn…we really grew up together you and I. Kurt I will forever remember the way you loved to tease me. You brought so much joy into my life when you were born. I will forever miss that handsome smile of yours, I will miss you telling me “mom, don’t worry. I’ll never hear mom I love you mom again. But I rest in the assurance that you are in the arms of Jesus and I will see you again one day. I love you son!
Brother – you always had a way of pestering me and making me laugh. I will miss your silly nature, your love of the Gators, your teasing “to the point of harassment “ and your smile (even thru difficult times). I know that we will laugh together again when I join you in Heaven. Rest in Peace Big Brother! Xoxo
I had the best time playing the board game that the family loves to play. I will miss you, Kurt, but I love you. Thank you for allowing me and your family.
Charlotte, Ron, Todd and all of the family, I and all my family are saddened and so sorry to hear of your unimaginable loss of Kurt. We all thought the world of him. As Christians we can find comfort in God’s word in Second Corinthians 5:8 “Absent from the body, present with the Lord.” It’s always helped me to work on slowly replacing the sadness with the thankfulness to God for me being blessed with the gift of just having them in my life.
