Barbara Sue Hartley

Barbara Sue Hartley (née Lockner), born on February 3, 1954, in Sterling, Illinois, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025, in Saint Augustine, Florida. She was 71 years old.
Barbara was the beloved daughter of Harry and Bernice Lockner and grew up surrounded by a large and close-knit family. Barbara is also remembered with love by her sister Sandy Maynard, brothers Pat McCarragher, Jim Lockner, John Lockner (wife Joanne), and Marc Lockner (wife Diane). She was preceded in death by her husband, Charlie Hartley, with whom she shared many cherished years, parents Harry and Bernice Lockner, brother Mike Lockner, sisters Connie Walker and Sheri McGowan.
Barbara’s legacy lives on through her four children: sons Eric Smith (wife Mandy), Chad Smith (wife Breezy), Travis Smith (wife Shaunna), and daughter Tara Smith. She was a proud grandmother to thirteen grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
A celebration of life to follow at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to your local VVA (Vietnam Veterans of America).
