Billy Thomas

August 28, 2022

It is with great sadness that the family of Billy Shelton Thomas announces his passing. Billy went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ at his home in Cross Creek, Florida on August 28, 2022, with his family by his side.

Billy lived in Cross Creek most of his life, where he was a Master Carpenter by trade. He was also an active member of New Cross Creek Baptist Church. Billy will always be remembered as an avid fisherman of Orange and Lochloosa Lake, as well as a Master BBQ Chef. Billy took many recipes and put his signature touch to them. He loved feeding his family, friends, and anyone that stopped by his home.

Billy was born in MacIntosh, FL to John W. and Lorraine Thomas on April 24, 1948. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 56 years, Linda
Thomas; his daughter Kim Townsend (Sam); his two sons, William Barney Thomas (Wendy), and Jimmy Thomas (Becky); and 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Kinnis (Irene), Larry (Joyce), Tony, Ronnie (Nancy), and sister Connie
Thomason (Bill); a host of nieces and nephews; and his loyal dog, Smokey. Billy was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers, Gene and Wendy Thomas.

A Celebration Of Life will be held later this month. Please  contact New Cross Creek Baptist Church or the Family for information.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New Cross Creek Baptist Church.

Gone Fishing
I’ve finished life’s chores assigned to me,
So put me on a boat headed out to sea.
Please send along my fishing pole
For I’ve been invited to the fishin’ hole.
Where every day is a day to fish,
To fill your heart with every wish.
Don’t worry, or feel sad for me,
I’m fishin’ with the Master of the sea.
We will miss each other for awhile,
But you will come and bring your smile.
That won’t be long you will see,
Till we’re together you and me.
To all of those that think of me,
Be happy as I go out to sea.
If others wonder why I’m missin’
Just tell ‘em I’ve gone fishin’

  1. Dear Aunt Linda, Kim, Barney and Jimmy,
I am heartbroken that I will know longer see my favorite uncle here on earth. Uncle Billy was a very special man and I will miss him terribly. He always made me laugh and never let me go home after a visit without some kind of food. My favorite memory is of him giving me the tour of Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings home.
I love you all and I'm praying for God's peace and comfort to surround you during this time.
