Blanca Maria Aguiar Carbia, 85, Blanca Maria and Marilín to family members, passed away on October 25, 2021 at Haven Hospice Center in Gainesville, FL. Born on May 30, 1936 in Santurce, Puerto Rico, she was the youngest daughter of Carlos Aguiar and Blanca Estrella Colón. Blanca Maria survived her brothers, Milton, Noel, Waldo and Armel. Also, half siblings, Olga, Georgie and Wilfred.
In Puerto Rico she attended local schools in San Juan and Caguas. Blanca Maria was married to Jose E. Carbia from 1957 until his passing in 1994. Blanca and Jose had four children, Blanca Estrella, Vanessa, José Eugenio,Yolanda and daughter-in law, Cynthia Renee Carbia. The family moved from Puerto Rico to Gainesville, FL in 1975. Blanca Maria had completed an administrative assistant college degree before marrying but dedicated her skills to raising a family and running a household.
After Blanca Maria widowed in 1994, she enrolled in the displaced homemaker’s program at Santa Fe Community College. After, she returned to the workforce. A proud moment to her children and friends. After retirement, she spent some of her time traveling, visiting friends, dancing and babysitting her beloved grandkids, Joey, Megan and Logan. A source of more recent pride was her great grandson, Reid.
For the past couple of years, she enjoyed time at home with her beloved pets, Bogart, Sunny, Pancho, Muñeca and Luna Negra.
Blanca Maria is survived by her four children, three grandchildren, one great grandchild and many nieces and nephews. Per Blanca Maria’s wishes, her body will be cremated and interred beside her husband at the National Cemetery in Puerto Rico at a future date.
