Carmen Maria Rodriguez Rivera, age 77, of Gainesville, FL, 11/30/1947 - 01/21/2025.
Our Matriarch & our warrior. She was known by her family as Mama’. She was born and raised in Puerto Rico. For a few decades she worked at the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico as executive secretary until she retired. While living in Puerto Rico she would enjoy visiting the different towns in the Island with her husband Paco and family .She then develop a love for gardening and spending time with her grandkids. Whom she spoiled every chance she could.
She had a strong temperament and would often be very outspoken. She would never shy away from displaying her argumentative skills and liked to get on folks nerves a time or two. However, she would go out of her way to make sure those that she loved were doing good and if we didn’t called her she would call us and tell us a thing or two.
She and her husband came to Florida a few months after Hurricane Maria devastated the island of Puerto Rico. What was meant to be a temporary move turned into them staying for their later years. During these years she experienced a number of challenges with her health. But it was through these challenges that she exhibited the heart of a warrior in her.
Although she was hurting, although her heart wasn’t 100%, although her kidneys were shutting down and her legs couldn’t sustain her she would do her best to get up, clean her house, cook a meal and be present in her great grandchildren’s birthdays ,games and events. Even after losing her husband to cancer, she would show resolute to keep going, one day at a time.
She leaves a great legacy of fighting hard to the last breath. She will greatly be missed by her family but we are forever grateful that we had her close to us during her last years. TE AMAMOS MAMA’! Seguimos Pa’Lante con Dios dandonos Fortaleza.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Rodriguez Rivera family.
