Carolyn Goodrich

May 17, 2022

Carolyn Signor Goodrich passed away on May 17, 2022, in Gainesville, Florida, with family at her side, after several years with Alzheimer’s dementia.

Carolyn was born on July 15, 1939, in New York. She grew up in Cobleskill, NY, and was preceded in death by her loving adoptive parents, Ethel and Norman Signor. She has a brother, Alan Signor, married to Beverly, in Camillus, NY. She attended Cobleskill College where she was an accounting student. There she met her husband of 63 years, Delmer Goodrich., Jr., who proposed to her because she was “100% lovable.”

Carolyn and Del had three children, Cathy Cavanaugh of Gainesville; Holly Sheldon, husband Gordon and son Dean, of Kalispell, MT; and Brad Goodrich, wife Claire, and daughter Kaia, of Jacksonville, FL. She provided a strong foundation for her family by prioritizing their education, never missing school events, taking pride in her home, creating special holiday memories, and enjoying family road trips.

Carolyn and her family lived primarily in the Chatham and Cobleskill, NY, areas until moving to Vero Beach, FL, in 1978. Carolyn worked in real estate and insurance offices, was purchasing manager for Indian River County, FL, and was facility manager at Dodgertown before becoming a State Farm Insurance broker in Florida and North Carolina. In retirement, Carolyn and Del lived briefly in Tennessee, before returning to Florida.

In the 1990s, Carolyn reunited with her birth father, Ernest Miner, in Cape Girardeau, MO, and met her sisters, Carol Farrar, Mary Miner, Helen Miner, Nancy Wright, and Flossie Leggett. She also met her birth mother’s daughters, Marge Searles and Jean Nelson.

Carolyn requested no services at her passing. Her family will hold a memorial and burial in New York. They invite you to contribute to Alzheimer’s organizations or Haven Hospice of Gainesville in her name.

Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Goodrich Family.

  1. Mom,
I was blessed and honored to be by your side during your last week. I love you and I miss you.
    Love, Holly

  2. Carolyn was a good friend to me in the William Golding Junior and Senior High School in Cobleskill, New York. I came into that school from a one-room schoolhouse in the same district and joined a group of friends who had been in the elementary school together. We sat together at lunch and had many classes together. I lived out in the country, but was able to host some of the pajama parties that we had at each other's homes. Helen, Nancy B, Janet, Carolyn, and Nancy? were my pals during that time. I got to see Carolyn and Del at our class's 51st reunion where we doubled up with the 1958 graduates 50th reunion. I wish happy memories to her family. From Dorothy (Dot) Dittrich Sager.
