Carolyn H. Niederkohr

January 28, 1950 ~ January 28, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Carolyn Holder Niederkohr on January 28, 2025.  Carolyn was born on January 28, 1950, in Macon, Georgia to parents Dorothy “Dot” Holder and Carl Holder and moved to Gainesville in 1965.  She graduated from Gainesville High School in 1968 and received her masters degree in speech-language pathology from the University of Florida in 1978 which she earned while working full time and also raising a family which was no easy task.  That was just one of many examples that demonstrated that when Carolyn set her mind to something, she was going to get it done.  She held positions as speech-language pathologist in public schools, hospitals and nursing homes. In 1999, Carolyn started her own business and was the clinical director of A.C.G. Therapy Center for seventeen years until she sold the company and retired in 2015.  Her career was a model for a life of service to children in need and she was their passionate advocate.

Carolyn was known for her strong will, unwavering determination, and love and support for her family and friends.  She was first of all a Christian whose life and work bore witness to the depth and sincerity of her faith.  Carolyn is someone who realized early on that our task on earth is not to leave an impression in the records of men but in the register of God.  Carolyn was a loving wife and mother and grandmother, a loyal sister and friend, a conscientious neighbor.  Those of us who knew her best will remember her with a glow of happiness and thanksgiving that we had the privilege of walking in her company for a while.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents John Allen and Ada Louise Pitts Moore and Henry and Mindy Holder; her parents, and her sister Patsy James.

She is survived by her husband Dean, her daughters Kelly Watson and Katy Niederkohr, her granddaughters Ruby, Ava, Lila and Emme Watson, her brother Carl Holder, Jr. (Ethel Holder) and sisters Vonnie Holder (Erica Raffel), Tina Anzivino (Michele Anzivino) and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
