It is with great sadness to announce that Cecile Devenish Sauvigné Nauright (lovingly known as Deven) died peacefully among close friends last Wednesday evening, December 11th, at the Bailey Family Center in Saint Augustine. Deven was born in Levittown, NY, on March 10th, 1955 to Cecile D. Sauvigné Karlson and George E. Sauvigné.
She lived an extraordinary and full life, fortunate enough to have lived abroad in several countries around the world, from Ecuador to Hong Kong, Guam and Bali. She served in the United States Air Force as a young woman and became the first woman in the Air Force to earn her wings in a combat mission. Deven later became an esteemed first class flight attendant for Pan American Airlines. She loved to tell stories of her well traveled life experiences, and had collected many beautiful memoir furniture and art pieces from her travels. There wasn’t a dog that she didn’t love, and her kindness and spunky spirit was loved by all who were lucky enough to know her. Deven loved all forms of water, whether it be relaxing or walking the beach, meeting her friends at water aerobics, diving into pools, or catching the sunset with friends and loved ones.
Deven was predeceased by her parents, her husband John "Jack" Nauright and a nephew Jordan Lee Chase. She is survived by her life partner Andrew McKenzie, two brothers John D. Sauvigné (Jan) and George A. Sauvigné and two sisters Diana Sauvigné (Lee) and Patricia Falco (Peter), two nephews John Devenish Chase and John Michael Sauvigné (Sallie), one niece Katheryn Cecile Sauvigné, one Great Niece Lila Gilmore Sauvigné and one Great Nephew George Roscoe Sauvigné. We thank Andrew and all of her wonderful friends for the love, help and care they provided Deven during her long battle with cancer.
She will be greatly missed and always in our loving memory as a brave woman so full of grace and charm. The family will hold a memorial to bless her ashes and an opportunity to share our fondest memories of Deven. Please contact the family for details of the upcoming memorial.
Crevasse's Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Nauright family.
