  1. Chuck was a team player all around! Great co-worker at USDA, and member on USDA Golf Team back in the day, fond memories out at West End Monday nights where we all played, some to win and some to learn and have fun.

  2. Worked many years with Chuck. Chuck taught me many things for work and life. I'm sure Hes asking the Good Lord where's the best fishing hole.

  3. I had the wonderful experience of working with Chuck for many years at USDA-ARS. He was one of my favorite people at USDA. He was fun, kind and a gentle soul. I am very sad about his life being so short.

  4. My sincere condolences to Mrs. Strong and the family.  I am so sorry for your loss.  Chuck was a wonderful person and it was a pleasure to know him and work with him at the USDA-ARS lab.  I was fortunate to hire him at the lab for the fire ant project because he became not only one of our best employees but also a friend.  With deepest sympathy, Dave Williams

  5. I met Chuck in August of 1976 as we both reported to Pre-season Football and Military training at The Citadel in Charleston S.C. We went on to have a great friendship as teammates and classmates. I loved the twinkle in his eye and the fact EVERY situation could be handled with a joke or witty retort. He was beloved by all and a fabulous athlete. He started all four years at The Citadel and encountered several serious injuries in his athletic career which he always overcame. He was also a very good student. Chuck was not always a willing participant in the "Military" aspects of The Citadel and incurred the wrath of many a Tactical Officer and Commandant of Cadets. Again, he approached every punishment confinement or tour with humor and whimsy. I will always remember his engaging spirit and personality. I will also miss both.

  6. Chuck was the best at everything he wanted to do.  He was a fantastic football player, a smart student, and a true friend.  I have so many memories of the years we spent together at The Citadel and in Savannah. I already miss him. Truly, one of a kind.

  7. My family moved into our neighborhood in 2003. I don't have any memories of a time here without Chuck and Diane. The laughter and beers Chuck and Michael shared will always be in my heart. Love & Tears!

  8. Chuck was a great competitor , I recall his passion to play well and as a team ( very good qualities in my opinion ) . I enjoyed seeing Chuck at the Ross reunion , his sister told me he really wanted to attend . The football family at the Citadel will miss Chuck and share our sincere condolences to the family . May he Rest In Peace.

  9. One of my best friends in college. Always the life of the party and always had your back. We lived together after college life in North Charleston. He will always be missed by me but his memories will live in me for the rest of my life.
