Colin Dopson

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of Colin Cyril Dopson on the evening of June 28, 2025, in Gainesville, Florida, surrounded by music, love and root beer.

Born in San Fernando, Trinidad, Colin lived a life full of adventure and travel. A retired forensic pathologist, Colin devoted many years to solving the most intricate of cases, before returning to school for his Masters in Education and transitioning to a fulfilling career in teaching. His commitment to education extended beyond the classroom when he answered the call to serve his country, spending a year teaching for the US Army in Iraq.

Colin’s life journey took him to many corners of the world—whether it was the tropical warmth of Trinidad, the vibrant streets of New York, the vast plains of Oklahoma, the bustling energy of China, or the sunshine of Florida. Yet, it was Gainesville that he called home and where his heart remained.

He is survived by his loving wife,
Ginny Hagen and his four children:

Roxanne Crossley her spouse Lawrence, and their children, Christian and Cameron;

Scott Trinidad, his daughter Sky, and his partner, Karen;

Natalie Dopson-Aubin,
her spouse Guy, and their children, Samantha, Jason, and Aaliyah;

Malory Mohammed, and her daughter Skye.

Colin leaves behind not only a loving family but also a legacy of his lifelong love of learning. We are deeply grateful for the love, care, and support that surrounded Colin and our family during his final days. Though he is no longer with us, his presence will continue to guide us as we hold him in our hearts forever.

Rest in peace, Dad.
Until we meet again.
Scott, Nat, Rox, Mal & Ginny
