Deborah J Simmons, 66, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away on Saturday, October 18, 2025.
She was born and raised in Gainesville, graduating from Eastside High School in 1977.
She worked for the University of Florida for many years, and also Partnership for Strong Families.
If you remember anything about her, it would have to be her laugh – it was iconic!
She is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Schellenger, and son, Christopher Wagner, both of Gainesville; grandchildren Shae, Jayda, Trey and Nadia; brother Mitch (Esther) Mallard of Alachua, and sister Nancy (Shay) Starling of Keystone Heights.
A private service will be held for her immediate family.
Crevasse’s Simple Cremation is honored to serve the Simmons family.

I will forever miss her laugh and the fun we had going to the beach every summer. I love you Aunt Debbie, rest in peace.
We were deeply saddened to hear about the loss of my cousin Deborah. Please know that our thoughts are with all of our family during this difficult time. May we all find comfort in the memories we shared and strength in the love that surrounds us moving forward.
With heartfelt sympathy, Scott & Krista Mallard
