Denmon Travis Markham

August 11, 1935 ~ November 21, 2022

Denmon Travis Markham was born on August 11, 1935, to William Heywood and Pauline Elizabeth Markham, in Hendrix, Oklahoma, and he passed away on November 21, 2022, in Jacksonville, Florida. He was 87.

Travis and his family lived near the tiny town of Yuba, Oklahoma, during his childhood. While still a child, his family migrated to California like so many others did during the Dust Bowl era.

Travis was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his older brother, George Markham, and his younger sister, Helen Frenier.

Travis is survived by the love of his life, his wife, Mary of 54 years, and their children, Michael and Stephen, all of Jacksonville, Florida, and Dayna of The Woodlands, Texas. He is also survived by his other siblings, brother Bill Markham of Alturas, California, and his family, brother Lee Markham of Alexandria, Tennessee, and his family, and sister Gaylene Bertsche and her family, of Lancaster, Kentucky, as well as the family’s of his brother George and sister Helen.

Travis was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in February 1994, and he certainly remained faithful to the end.

Travis lived in California and Oklahoma for a great number of years, before moving to Florida in 2021.

Travis loved people and a number of people were drawn to him by his calm manner and beautiful smile.

Travis will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

Travis’ wife, Mary, and their children, would like to express their gratitude for the outpouring of support so many have shown them.

  3. The John family hereby relay our sincere condolences to the Markham family on the passing of the family patriarch. What a calm soul we viewed him as he came and went to meetings. I am going to treasure the one time I got to work with him and our dear sister in service. Like our family. A hole is left in your heart, Jehovah along with all the beautiful memories helps. Ps 146:5,9 my favorite.
