Dianna & I attended grade school together in North Syracuse, New York in the 1970's. I fondly remember spending doing sleepovers, playing games, and who could ever forget her * her mother Nancy's Pomeranians. Dianna is a childhood friend that I really needed, because growing up in North Syracuse, there were not a lot of people of color, but Dianna & her mother Nancy embraced me. Their kindness will always live in my heart. In junior high school, my mother & I moved away to Houston, Texas, and over year Dianna & I lost contact. Through Facebook though, we were reunited a few years back. Although we never visited each other in person, we did keep in touch on Facebook. One of the last things she wrote to me was a memory of me sharing marshmellow ice cream cones that my mother used to buy for me. This is something that I completely forgot about, and the nostalgic memory put a big smile on my face. Throughout her illness, she kept a smile and a positive outlook. Dianna I regret that we never got together in our adult lives, but am truly grateful you were one of my best friends growing up and that we at least made contact again via the magic of Facebook. Sometimes life gets in the way, and we loose track of time. I realized that I have not seen any posts from you in awhile, and that's when I realized that I wouldn't anymore. My heart is broken that you were taken so soon, but one day I will join you my friend. For now, just know that the memories that we shared will forever live in my heart!
