December 27, 2018

Donald Budd Page, Jr. Donald Budd Page, Jr, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2018, after a period of declining health. Don was born in Augusta, Georgia, on September 29, 1941. He was predeceased by his parents, Donald and Grace Page, Sr. His early life was spent in Jacksonville and Starke, Florida, graduating from Bradford County High School in 1960. Don served in the United States Army for two years earning commendations for riflery and pistol expertise. After receiving a BA in Psychology and Counseling from the University of West Florida in 1970, Don began his 30+ year career with the State of Florida, holding various positions with the Department of Children and Families.
With his varied interests and activities, Don developed many close friendships and was frequently the “go to person” for advice and guidance for others sharing these interests. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing, boating, canoeing, kayaking, waterskiing, and camping. Additional interests included flying remote control airplanes, archery, trap and pistol shooting, and dancing. Don displayed enthusiasm and passion for all of his avocations, and his love for dancing was no exception. He was a long-time member of the GODS community (contra dancing). Through this group, Don went on to learn zydeco, cajun, waltz, and swing dancing. Every moment that Don was on the dance floor was filled with joy. He was inventive and gentle with his dance partners, and Don believed that dancing released one’s true spirit, and transported the dancers to a higher plane of existence. Many of Don’s traveling adventures included dance festivals…..Vortex in Mentone, Alabama, St Pete Crawfish Festival, and New Year’s Eve Mardi Gras and Festival Acadian in Lafayette, Louisiana. No matter where he danced, Don was the center of attention, and loved it!
