Douglas Scott HartwellSeptember 8 ,1960 - October 24, 2022Gainesville, FloridaDoug “Papa” Hartwell, dedicated husband, father, son, brother, uncle and friend of many, passed away on October 24th at the age of 62.Doug was born to Henry and Patty Lou Hartwell in Winter Park, Florida.Throughout the years Doug loved fishing with his family and friends, woodworking, grilling, camping, helping others and making memories with his family, friends and his beloved dog Dante.Doug was authentically and whole heartedly there for those he loved. His zest for life, adventure and kindness will never be forgotten.Doug was preceded in death by his spouse Donna Hartwell, his father Henry Hartwell and his brother Jeffery Hartwell.Doug is survived by his wife Lisa Hudspeth, mother Patty Lou Hartwell, son William “Billy” Hartwell (spouse Johanna Hartwell, grandson Logan Hartwell), daughter Melissa Hartwell, brother Bruce Hartwell (spouse Kelly Hartwell), Sister in Law Janine Weller-Hartwell and several nephew's and one niece.Celebration of Life will be held in Steinhatchee, Florida later this month. I went to church with the Hartwell Family in Jacksonville at Wesley United Methodist Church when we were children. We would always be together, running/chasing around each other before, during and after church service. I have fond memories of Doug and his brothers. I pray that Doug is at peace and that the family finds strength in our Lord at this Christmas season
