Drewey C. Bennett

December 19, 1957 ~ October 30, 2023

Drewey Carroll Bennett, 65, of Norfolk, Virginia, was born December 19, 1957, to the late Ira “Speedy” and Lula Mae Bennett in Little Rock, AK and grew up in Cross City, Fl. Drewey passed away on October 30, 2023.

He is survived by his daughters Nicole Bennett Walker (Treverick “Bamm”), Renadale Bennett Miller (Justin), Kelly Bennett, Ashley Bennett, and Andrea Bennett Dey (Clay) and a son, Drew Bennett. He leaves behind 3 brothers, Jimmy Dale, Jessie, and Terrell Bennett, a sister, Debra Wallace Crifasi (Sam), 19 grandchildren, 3 greatgrandchildren, and a host of extended family members. He is preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Helen Pryor, Ruby Lee Pryor Butler, and his brother, Albert L. Powell. 

Drewey is remembered as a loving father, grandfather, brother, and uncle. He loved his family and often expressed it through frequent phone calls just to check on family members. At the end of a conversation he might say something like, “I love you; I miss you, I sure wish I could kiss you!” He was born into a family who had a deep Christian faith. He loved the Lord and proclaimed Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.

Drewey traveled the United States working as a skilled craftsman. He was a member of the Ironworkers Union of America, the International Brotherhood of Boilermakers Union, and the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union. It was not uncommon for him to be found inventing
some new contraption and he had a world of inventions he wanted to patent.

  4. I love you & miss you terribly bad. I'd give anything to be able to hear my phone ringing, see your name come across my screen, an get to talk to you one more time. Had I knew that just 2 days before you left us, was gonna be the last time I'd ever get to see you, talk to you, or hug you….I would have never let go. Just know this- I love you, I miss you, sure wish i could kiss you! I'll see you soon, Daddy.
