With deep love and remembrance, we announce the passing of Edna Pedrosa Morrissey, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, who went to be with the Lord on Good Friday, April 18, 2025, at the age of 92.
Born in Borba, Amazonas, Brazil, Edna lived a vibrant life marked by courage, adventure and faith. She lived many of her working years in Manaus, Amazons, Brazil and later made her home in Miami, Gainesville, and Newberry, FL, where she created lasting memories and lifelong friendships. Edna radiated joy and lit up every room she entered. Whether traveling the world, dancing, or sharing stories, she lived life to the fullest and made friends everywhere she went.
Edna spent most of her career as a successful teacher and principal in Brazil, aswell as an entrepreneur alongside her late husband, Thomas Morrissey. Together, they owned and operated several thriving businesses, including a restaurant, travel agency, and distribution company in Brazil. Her vision and hard work paved the way for her family’s future, including their immigration to the United States in the 1990’s, where she proudly secured U.S. citizenship for her loved ones. After moving to the U.S., Edna devoted herself fully to her greatest joy, her family. She cherished every moment spent raising her grandchildren, great grandchildren, traveling, and attending church. Her faith in Christ was the foundation of her life, and she loved her church family.
