Edwin Harrell

Edwin Harrell, 67, of Gainesville, Florida, passed away peacefully on April 3rd, 2023 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing at the E.T. York Hospice Care Center.

Edwin was born on August 20th, 1955, in Gainesville, FL to Joseph and Sally Harrell. He was the ninth of 10 children. Edwin graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1974 and played center position on the football team.

Edwin worked most of his life as the owner of a plastering and stucco company. He loved watching all sports but his favorite was gator football. If he wasn’t watching sports, he was watching movies. Edwin also had a passion for late model car racing. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who valued spending time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his father Joseph Harrell, brother Clifford Harrell, mother Sally Harrell, sister Merlene Birchfield and sister Sherrill Carter.

He is survived by his loving wife and friend Deborah Harrell of 28 years, son Nicholas Harrell, daughter Amanda Atha, stepson Eric Anderson and step daughter Christina Anderson, Brothers Jody and George Harrell, sisters Joyce Lester, Marilyn Heck, Audrey Sweat, 5 grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A private memorial will be announced at a later date.
