Floyd M. “Pete” Niece

Floyd Martin “Pete” Niece, 90, passed away on November 27, 2022. He was born on December 12, 1931, in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Floyd Lee Niece and Cynthia Courtney Niece. He was a Navy Seabee veteran who served two tours in Vietnam and retired in 1971 as a Chief Petty Officer. He worked as a crane operator at Norfolk Naval Shipyard from 1974 until 1994. He loved working in the garage and the yard. Pete loved his peanut butter cheese crackers and the small dessert pies. He loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow. He is predeceased by his wife, Helen Elizabeth Niece (1933-2016), and his daughter, Karen Ann Barden (1959-2021). He is survived by his son, Blake Stephen Niece (Lynne W. Niece); grandchildren Sara Niece, Ashley Mize, Brandon Barden, and Brittany Niece (Kyle Zeltmann); great-grandchildren Luella Harvey and Oliver Zeltmann; and a host of extended family.
