James David Douglas

James David Douglas, 67, of High Springs, FL entered into rest on June 19, 2024 at ET York Hospice Care Center in Gainesville, FL with his family by his side.

David was born November 1, 1956 in Albertville, AL. He is preceded in death by his parents James Douglas and Sue Edger and survived by his step father, Lyle Edger.

David is the eldest of five siblings Debra (Robin) Martin, Timmy Douglas, Terry (Theresa) Douglas, Jennie Jones and John (Becky) Morgan.

David’s legacy will continue on through his wife, Darlene Ergle Douglas, his children Melissa (Chester) Sheffield and Jeremy (Nika) Douglas, as well as his grandchildren Jaxson (Hailey) Sheffield, Jayce Douglas and Jameson Douglas.

After graduating Santa Fe High School in 1975, David enlisted in the United States Marine Corp and married his high school sweetheart. He was a devoted husband of 47 years and a loving father and grandfather. David enjoyed fishing, baseball, and playing cards. He retired from Alachua County Public Works.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Hospice.

The family will hold a private Celebration of Life in David’s honor.
